Due to livejournal's recent ToS update, I've decided to take a proactive step and delete this community from lj in favor of hosting it over on dreamwidth. I've already imported all of the entries/comments to the dreamwidth page, so head on over here if you'd like to join there. I'll be deleting the comm on lj in about a week to give everyone time to see this.

Also, please bear with me as I try and navigate dreamwidth's setup, the comm may undergo some changes style-wise until I settle on something that works.

Okay, I know this has been Disneycookleta: the Neverending Round, but hey, life is a little bit crazy for all of us right now, and I'd much rather give everyone as much time as they need to complete their submissions than risk losing some truly spectacular fic due to time constraints.

With that being said, I've decided to extend the due date a little bit more - to April 1st, in fact. Bam, that's 63 extra days to get everything in order!

I would still love to get everyone together - everyone that wishes to participate, of course! - for a writing session at some point between now and April. Odds are it will be held on a weekend - maybe every other weekend leading up to the due date, so there will be plenty of opportunities for everyone to join, since I know that our schedules are all over the place and free time is a luxury.

All that being said, I hope that everyone is doing well and taking care of yourselves, and I hope you're all still excited about finishing up your submissions, despite your mod being all over the place this round, haha.

As always, any comments/concerns/questions, leave a comment or feel free to PM / email me!

Hello, folks!

Because I am a forgetful mod, I didn't take into account that I would be traveling around/during the final draft due date and posting date(s). With that in mind, I'm changing the final draft due date to Saturday, January 28th. I know we tend to be busy during the holidays, so hopefully this will give everyone the time that they need (myself included!) to finish up their submissions.

I'll plan to start posting on Saturday, February 4th. If you've finished your submission before January 28th and would like to (or if you need to) turn it in early, just shoot me an email at disneycookleta@gmail.com and I can send you a template to fill out for it.

Apologies for all the schedule readjustments I've had to make this round. I failed to take into account how often I would be traveling!

As always, if you have any questions/concerns, feel free to leave a comment here or PM/email me!

Apologies for the lateness of this post, folks! I definitely underestimated how late I would get home yesterday from my trip to Utah.

But here we are! Rough drafts are now officially due! Remember, they should be about 1500 words or more at this point, but if you're not quite there yet, just send in what you have so that I know you're still in the game. Don't panic if you haven't met your 1500 word mark! Remember, we still have plenty of time between now and the final draft due date :)

Send your drafts over to disneycookleta@gmail.com with the following:

Title (let me know if it's just tentative):
Chosen Film:
Current Word Count (if applicable):

Attach a .doc of the rough draft to the email.

I'll send you an email afterwards confirming that I've recieved your drafts!

Now, if you have any problems or questions, go ahead and PM or email me. If you need an extension, do the same, and I'll figure something out for you. If you're dropping out, please drop me a line so I know what's going on.

Keep in mind that final drafts are due December 17th! That gives everyone a little over a month to wrap up their fics/art! Of couse, posting won't begin until December 20th, so you'll have a little bit of leeway to finish up your submissions in case they're not completed by the final draft due date.

Keep it up, guys! We're nearly there!

Okay, folks! Rough draft notes are due via email today (September 24th)!

Remember that there is no strict word count requirement, but notes/outlines would be greatly appreciated! Don't worry about formatting or any other specific requirements, either. All I'm looking for here is that you've got a plan for whatever film you've chosen, and that you have a general idea as to where you're going with it.

To submit your rough draft notes, send an email to disneycookleta@gmail.com with the subject line: Rough Draft, Chosen Film, Username

Body of the email should include:

Email address(es):
Title (let me know if it's just tentative):
Chosen Film:
Current Word Count (if applicable):
Warnings (if any):

Your notes can be attached as a document or simply included in the body of the email. I will send a confirmation message once I've recieved them!

Remember that rough drafts of at least 1,500 words are due on October 29th, so that's a little over a month of prime fic-writing/drawing time available to us!

Also, if anyone is interested in having a group writing session, let me know! Sometimes it helps to have others cheering you on and offering their own insights to any questions/concerns you might be having about your fic/art. We can use sites like ChatStep to communicate via instant messaging, so again, if anyone is interested, let me know and I'll work on setting up a date/time :)

Comments/questions/concerns? Drop me a line here or simply send me an email. I'll be glad to help you, as always!

Hello, friends! It’s time for the first check in! I know a few of you (maybe all of you) might be freaking out at this point, thinking “But I haven’t even started!” or “I have no idea what to do yet!” or maybe even “Why the heck did I sign up for this thing?!”

BREATHE. Or, “Just keep swimming!” to be more appropriate ;)

This is simply a post to check in on your progress. Nothing is due, so don’t worry about having to turn in a word count or anything of the sort. Usually for these types of check ins, I do a poll, but I decided to forego that this time around and just let you guys talk about whatever you’d like in the comments. This check in isn’t mandatory, but I would definitely appreciate it if you guys let me know how you’re doing, if you’re having any concerns or issues with the schedule or your chosen film, or if you need any help. Also, please keep in mind that if I haven’t heard anything from you in any capacity (email, IM, twitter, etc.) by the time rough drafts are due, I will assume you have dropped from the challenge. This is merely a precaution to avoid some of the issues I had last year with participants not getting in touch with me throughout the round (which resulted in a very stressed out mod).

If you’re having an issue with inspiration, ideas, etc., try watching the movie you chose! There are probably similar adaptions you can watch, too, and novelizations that you can check out as well. Listen to the soundtracks, look at fanart, ask your fellow Disney lovers and cookleta friends!

Also, DON’T PANIC if you haven’t started yet or are unsure how to go about starting. Give it time and it will come to you. I’m always available for brainstorming if any of you need it, and will be glad to offer any sort of help you need. And remember that there is a discussion post which will stay open throughout the entire challenge! You can go there to share your thoughts/concerns/ideas, and to seek out a second (or third or fourth) opinion about anything you need help with. Remember, this is supposed to be a fun, low-pressure challenge. Have fun with it, and ask for help when/if you need it!

Feel free to expand on stuff in the comments! Don’t give away all your ideas, but if you guys feel like posting summaries, or teasers, or requesting plot/beta help, or whatever, go ahead! And by that, of course, I mean PLEASE DO.

PSA: For those of you with twitter, I'll be posting updates there as well as reminding everyone when important dates are coming up, so if you'd like to recieve those as well, my username is abovetheruins :)

Here it is, as promised! Welcome to the disneycookleta round three discussion post!

This is a new addition to the challenge, and something I thought might encourage participation and provide some inspiration for everyone at the same time.

Consider this a free space where you can discuss... well, whatever you'd like! Need a beta? Ask for one here! Want to talk about plot and discuss ideas? You've found the place! You can share scenes from your chosen film, share snippets from your fics/art, bounce ideas off of each other, whatever you'd like!

This post will be active throughout the entirety of the round, so feel free to use it to your heart's content!

Alright, you know what to do! Get in here and start talking!

Though originally I was planning to close claims today, I decided to leave them open for another week. I know there are a few people still thinking about joining, so I wanted to give them a bit more time to decide.

That being said, let's get to the purpose of this post! Below you'll find a list of which participant chose what film. Please let me know if I overlooked anyone! I'll add to the list if/when other people sign up.

Drumroll, please!

filledwithgold - Beauty and the Beast

anguishofmylove - Sky High

rajkumari905 - The Incredibles

fieryrogue - Robin Hood

asweetdownfall - The Princess and the Frog

theotherqueen - Tangled

abovetheruins - Spirited Away

rajkumari905 & celli - The Aristocats

abovetheruins & asweetdownfall - Tuck Everlasting

And that's all, folks! Check out that amazing lineup!

Next up on the schedule is Check-in #1 on August 6th. This will be a post designed to see how everyone's coming along and if anyone's having issues that need to be addressed with the schedule/their progress/etc.

I'm also thinking of creating a discussion post that can be used throughout the round, as a place for everyone to gather and talk about anything and everything related to the challenge. If you need help with something, are looking for a beta, or just want to chat, feel free to do so in that post! It'll be up within the week, so keep a look out!

EDIT 07.04.16. The claims post is officially closed. If you haven't signed up and would still like to participate, please PM me!

The first thing to note is that you must comment with one claim per post. If you’re claiming multiple movies, make multiple comments. Second thing is that you must claim with the claiming form. If you just yell out the title of your movie, it won’t count. The list of movies up for grabs can be found here.

Claiming Form:

Type: (Individual/Team/Hold)
*For: (Name and Username)
Choice #1:
Choice #2:
Choice #3:

As an example…

Individual Claims should look like this:

Name: Kayla / abovetheruins
Type: Individual

Choice #1: Tangled
Choice #2: Princess and the Frog
Choice #3: Mulan

Team Claims should look like this:

Name: Kayla / abovetheruins and Nitya / asweetdownfall
Type: Team

Choice #1: Tarzan
Choice #2: Cars
Choice #3: Treasure Island

If you’re claiming a movie for someone else, it should look like this:

Name: Kayla / abovetheruins
Type: Hold
For: Nitya / asweetdownfall

Choice #1: Winnie the Pooh
Choice #2: A Goofy Movie
Choice #3: Kingdom Hearts

I will confirm whether or not you got your claim as soon as I can. Remember, it’s first come, first serve!

This is a list of the (objective) most popular Disney movies/shows. Look through it, browse, consider, whatever. Claims begin Sunday, so have a movie or two in mind! Feel free to post prompts/ideas in the comments, as well as questions. And if there's a movie you want that isn't on the list, ask, and I'll say if it's appropriate or not. If it's Disney, it most likely is, but some movies were left off on purpose. (Example: Treasure Planet, because it's a re-make of Treasure Island, was left off the list.)

I hope this inspires everyone to re-watch every Disney movie in their home library. >;D

*Note: The movies marked with stars are the ones which were claimed for round one & round two. You're more than welcome to choose one of them again, though!

The movies marked with slashes have been claimed for this round and are unavailable!
